The Challenge

Wego Systembaustoffe GmbH is one of the leading distributors of construction systems and technical insulation in Germany, operating as part of the SIG plc Group. A team of over 1,300 specialists across more than 50 locations connects manufacturers with contractors, delivering comprehensive solutions for the construction industry from drywall systems to roofs and façades, as well as technical insulation.

As part of the international SIG Group, Wego consistently develops its digital strategy. One of the company’s key objectives was to increase the share of online sales and move customer service processes into digital channels.

The company needed a modern e-commerce platform that would encourage users to place orders online and provide access to all essential documents such as invoices, order history, and delivery confirmations in one central location.

Univio was engaged in the project due to its experience in delivering complex B2B implementations and its use of best practices developed during previous projects within the SIG Group. This approach helped shorten the implementation timeline and ensured a scalable system architecture.

  • Increase the share of online sales and move customer service to the digital channel.
  • Encourage customers to place orders online and use the platform as a central access point for documents.
  • Low performance of the previous online store – slow loading of product listings and difficult product search.
  • The purchasing process was too complex and time-consuming, discouraging users.
  • Limited potential for acquiring new customers through the online channel.
  • Lack of an intuitive customer panel and limited access to invoices, order history, and delivery confirmations.
  • Difficulties for sales representatives – no tools to serve customers online on their behalf.

Customer Implementation Manager
Wego Systembaustoffe GmbH

"The new e-commerce platform has streamlined the purchasing process and improved the overall efficiency of digital sales. Customers can find products more easily, complete orders faster, and manage their purchases more conveniently through the platform. These improvements have strengthened customer adoption of the digital channel and contributed to the growing share of online sales. From an operational perspective, the platform provides a solid foundation for continuously improving the purchasing experience and supporting the further development of e-commerce."

The Solution

  • Univio implemented the German version of the WEGO e-commerce platform, based on a proven solution previously delivered for SIG Poland.
  • Adapting the solution to the specifics of the German market shortened the implementation timeline and enabled a rapid go-live.
  • Platform performance was significantly improved – fast loading of product listings, intuitive product search, and an optimized user experience (UX).
  • An advanced customer account was introduced, providing 24/7 access to order history, invoices, and delivery confirmations
  • A sales representative mode was implemented, allowing orders to be placed on behalf of customers while maintaining a complete order history.
  • Price integration was optimized – slow SAP interfaces were replaced with an external database, resulting in a substantial performance boost.
  • A B2B registration form was introduced, enabling the creation of corporate accounts and user activation.
  • A “complementary products” feature was added, recommending accessories and supplementary materials, increasing the average basket value.
  • Camel Databus was used to integrate SAP and the e-commerce platform with near real-time data synchronization.
